Event Profiles

• Apollo's Fire Concert Series
Apollo’s Fire, The Cleveland Baroque Orchestra,
was recently hailed as “one of America’s leading baroque orchestras” by Richard Dyer of The Boston Globe. The ensemble, comprised of North America’s leading baroque instrumentalists, performs 17th and 18th century music on the period instruments for which it was written, thereby promoting a fresh and lively approach to historically informed performance. As the only baroque orchestra in the Midwest, it offers audiences the unique opportunity to hear live period-instrument performances of music by well-known composers such as Bach, Vivaldi and Mozart, as well as introduces listeners to forgotten masterpieces by composers such as Monteverdi, Biber and Praetorius.
Apollo's Fire
Apollo’s Fire has received international acclaim for its eleven recordings on the Eclectra and Koch International Classics labels. It is frequently broadcast on National Public Radio and can also be heard on Britain’s BBC, Canada’s CBC, European Community Radio, and several classical music stations in Northeast Ohio.

• BGSU Men's Chorus "Runout Concert"

The BGSU Men's Chorus is an auditioned large singing ensemble that is open to all male students at Bowling Green State University. Our motto and reputation as being "America's Finest Singing Machine" is well deserved, having a tradition of over 30 years of excellence. We welcome students from all majors; over half of the men in chorus are not music majors, including some the officers.

The chorus goes on 2 tours each year, once during Fall semester, and once during Spring semester. The fall tour goes to locations in Ohio and Michigan, singing at high schools during the day, and various venues in the evenings; the spring tour goes to a different location each year. In the past few spring semesters, the Men's Chorus has gone to Colorado, Florida, New York City, and Toronto. These tours offer opportunities for members to perform for many different audiences, see different parts of the country, and to bond and create lasting friendships with fellow chorus members.
