During a specially called December 10th Congregational Meeting, members of FLC voted unanimously to extend a call to the Reverend John Zahrte for the position of Senior Pastor. For the past eighteen years, Pastor Zahrte has served at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Excelsior, Minnesota. He came to that church in July of 1988 as the Associate Pastor. In 1994 he accepted the call to serve as Senior Pastor.Pastor Zahrte graduated from Concordia College, Ann Arbor, Michigan, in 1984. He completed his pastoral training at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri, in 1988. He and his wife, Karla, have three children: Timothy, Stephen, and Hannah. Pastor Zahrte enjoys spending time with his family, playing all sports, and going fishing whenever he can get a free moment. Above all, Pastor Zahrte enjoys serving the Lord and is passionate about bringing people into a relationship with Jesus Christ. Pastor Zahrte was advised of the call Sunday afternoon following the meeting by Bill Feth, Transition Team Chair, and Pastor Bob Tauscher, English District Circuit Counselor. Pastor Zahrte advised us that he will establish a time table for his decision process following the Christmas holidays.
