The Bridge

  Home > The Bridge

We welcome you to be our guest at “The Bridge”—it’s
where we’re connecting faith to life and people to Christ!

There is a story about a company that wanted to build a bridge across the Niagara River. The bridge, once completed, would bear the load of trains carrying passengers and cargo. There was one big problem—where the bridge needed to be built, the river was fast and strong and the engineers had no idea as to how they would get the first pylons in. Then one of them had a “eureka” moment. It was beyond what engineers were used to, but the others were willing to go along with it.

They took a kite and, with some patience and practice, flew the kite high enough that when they forced it down, it dropped on the opposite side of the river. It was grabbed by a group of engineers waiting for it. They then tied a small but strong wire to the kite string, and, by sheer will, dragged the wire across the river via the string. Next, they tied an even bigger wire to the smaller wire and dragged that across. They re-peated the process using larger and larger wires until they switched to steel cables, finally reaching their goal. They started small, but they dreamed big and they pursued that dream. And because of that willingness to pursue the dream, they benefited not only themselves, but passengers and customers on both sides of the Niagara River.

We have been given a dream, a vision, to build a bridge. But not just any bridge.
It is a vision to build “The Bridge,” a viable contemporary service that will be the means by which people come to know Christ and come to connect their faith to their life.

The bridge is not a new concept, however. Beyond something that serves as a means for crossing over a road or river, the bridge itself is a classic illustration of salvation where Christ is the bridge that spans the gap between God and man (see illustration). And if Christ is willing to be that bridge for us and our salvation, we want to respond by being a bridge for others to come to know Him. By building The Bridge, we will build not only our understanding of Scripture and it’s application to our life, but we will be building the kingdom of heaven.
